Canada Day's national hot-spot was Osoyoos with official high of 37.7

The heat did not nothing to stop people from coming to celebrate

According to Environment Canada, the Town of Osoyoos was the hottest place in the nation on Canada Day, and that is a scientific fact.

The temperatures at the monitoring station hit a sweltering 37.7 C, four degrees higher than the next hottest spot in Val Marie, Sask., where temperatures hit 33.7.

While not an official weather monitoring station, the thermometer at Osoyoos Elementary School showed temperatures even higher than what was officially recorded with 42 C displayed around noon.

That didn't stop thousands of people from descending on the town for their 75th annual Cherry Fiesta and Canada Day celebrations.

The official monitoring station temperature was still enough to set a record for the hottest Canada Day in Osoyoos' history, just beating out the previous highest temperature of 37.6 C set in 2021.

The next previous record was set back in 1987, where the temperature was recorded at 36.5 C.
