Two short plays about dementia will be presented in Summerland in early September.
The plays are Waterworks, written by Rob King, and Postcards From Yesterday, by Pascal Archambault with Summerland Singers and Players and Showtime.
Each of the plays will be followed by a question and answer period by Chrissy Aiken, Dementia Alliance International and Dr. Alan Gow.
The event will also have music by Yanti and Dawn, and Trista Bassett.
The plays are being staged as a collaboration of the Ryga Arts Festival, the Okanagan School of the Arts, and the DB Foundation for Health Research.
Barb Stewart, program manager with DB Foundation for Health Research, said the event format is experimental for Memory Cafes. However, in the past, all Memory Cafe events have had a strong arts or recreation focus.
The plays will be staged Friday, Sept. 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at St. Stephen Anglican Church, 9311 Prairie Valley Rd., Summerland.
