The Penticton Beer Run has itself a new route.

On June 7, the event returns with a seven-kilometre dash down the KVR Trail as hundreds of participants sample their way through the city's downtown core before finishing off at the Penticton Yacht Club.

The run — which has taken place in October during Penticton Beer Week over the last several years — will feature tastings from 11 breweries and multiple eateries.

Close to 500 people registered to take part in the event last fall.

This year, teams will start their day as early as 9 a.m. by boarding a shuttle to Abandoned Rail Brewing before taking their first sips of a local beer and marching down the new route.

Breweries from across the South Okanagan have confirmed their participation in the event: Barley Mill, Cannery, Neighbourhood, Slackwater, Highway 97, Firehall, Giant's Head, Yellow Dog, Detonate, Northstar and Abandoned Rail.

The event will also feature a "post-run fun" at the Penticton Yacht Club. A local DJ will be getting the party started with music as participants enjoy yard games.

It's also become an event tradition for teams to show off their creativity and dress in costumes.

Last year marked the Penticton Beer Run's eighth annual edition.

Teams can register for the event here.
