The University of B.C. Okanagan students are helping beautify 麻豆精选 with 13 new street banners.
UBCO's Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies partnered with the city to have the original art of students and alumni displayed on lamp posts at the Rotary Centre for the Arts Commons and the Art Walk in the city's Cultural District.
鈥淭hese banners add such vibrancy and interest to our community, and we are proud that this partnership continues to provide quality art to our public spaces, while also celebrating local talent,鈥 said Christine McWillis, Cultural Services Manager for the City of 麻豆精选. 鈥淲e invite our community to take a stroll down the Art Walk and discover these incredible pieces for themselves next time they鈥檙e in the Cultural District.鈥
Since its launch in 2020, the Outdoor Banner Exhibition program has showcased the art of 65 students, staff and alumni.
Two large banners have also been installed on the Art Walk, using augmented reality to display three-dimensional animations on top of the prints. The larger banners were designed by Owen Clark and Jessica Williams under the direction of visual arts professor Myron Campbell.
