Armstrong's Studio 309 Design will host a Home For Healing self-guided tour as a fundraiser for BC Children's Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House. The event takes place Thursday, July 24.

It's a home away from home Jenelle Stanley knows all too well.

She helped design the Ronald McDonald House BC Yukon facility in Vancouver, never imagining that one day she'd be living there with her sick child.

Stanley, who owns and operates Studio 309 Design in Armstrong, is looking to help raise money for BC Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.

She is hosting a ticketed event called Home For Healing from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at 2685 Colony Street in Armstrong. Tickets for the event are just $10 and can be purchased through .

Home For Healing, says Stanley, is "an immersive self-guided home tour that showcases the transformative power of biophilic design — a design approach that connects people and place with nature.

"Our surroundings shape how we feel, think and interact," said Stanley. "Biophilic design harnesses this connection by integrating natural elements into the built environment to foster well-being, creativity and a deeper sense of place. This special event is more than just an educational home tour — it’s a chance to give back to families in need."

All proceeds from this event will support BC Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, two organizations that provide life-saving medical care and essential support to families facing childhood illness.

These organizations are deeply personal to Studio309 Design.

When her son was diagnosed with leukemia at just two years old, Stanley and her family leaned heavily on the resources, housing, and care provided by these foundations.

Home For Healing is a self-guided tour that takes you through a custom biophilic designed home, where you will discover how this design approach and principles have been seamlessly integrated into every space. Placards throughout the home will guide you through:

• Natural materials and textures: Learn how wood, stone and organic textures bring warmth and grounding energy;

• Indoor-outdoor connection: See how architecture can blur the lines between interior and exterior for a seamless nature experience;

• Light, air and well-being: Explore how thoughtful lighting and airflow design enhance mood and health;

• Restorative spaces: Understand how nature-inspired interiors reduce stress, improve productivity and support healing.

"Your participation makes a difference," said Stanley. "Whether you attend the event, donate or help spread the word, you are contributing to a cause that provides comfort and care to families navigating medical hardships.

"Together, through the power of design and community, we can create healing spaces – both in homes and in hearts."

If you can't attend the event, but would like to make a contribution, you can donate through .
